The Charities is trying to target its resources where they can be of the most direct benefit to financially disadvantaged individuals. The Charities therefore does not receive unsolicited applications for funding from organisations. However the Charities’ officers are eager to meet with colleagues from other not-for-profit organisations to explore ways in which we can work together to help individuals to end dependency on benefits or improve a low wage.
The Charities makes incentive payments to any not-for-profit non-statutory organisations that successfully refer individuals and families to us. The best way to show us that you are working with the people that we want to help is to refer individuals to us and at the same time you will benefit your organisation. Non-statutory not for profit organisations that don’t have other funding arrangements with us but are working directly with low-income residents of Kensington are eligible to receive £1,000 for each individual or family that they refer successfully (i.e. each individual or family that is awarded a grant or pension).
To receive this money you must undertake to use the donation for purposes that accord with the Charities' objects a precis of which is 'the advancement of Education and the relief of need for people who require financial assistance living in Kensington'. (For the full object see the Charities' annual report in the publications section). Your organisation must have a not for profit status and wide enough objects itself for the chosen charitable purpose/activity and you must provide us with an annual set of accounts and a report as to how the monies have been used.
By making a referral you are demonstrating that you are working with the sorts of individuals that we want to help. Grants Officers will find out more about your organisation by talking to the people that you refer. You can see a list of the organisations that made referrals last year by using the Referrals link on the left.
Once you have established a relationship with us by making referrals over a period of twelve months, a Grants Officer may talk to you about receiving further funding from us. This may lead to a more clearly defined partnership and if it does your organisation will receive regular funding. However the approach will be made to you only if Grants Officers feel that it is appropriate, the Charities does not receive unsolicited applications. You can find out more by using the Parnerhips link on the left and you can see examples of parnerships by using the Current Partneships link.
If you have contact with individuals whom you would like to refer then Contact Us.
The Charities may give regular funding to organisations that have referred people to us by entering into partnership agreements.
